Difference between learning and understanding It’s unfortunate that most of our teachers who are teaching English in their schools are not well trained in teaching. Most of the time they speak in their mother tongue in the classroom while teaching English. And if they are asked to speak in English they will give an excuse that the students will not understand. In that way they are not giving a single chance to their students to listen English in their classroom. In fact we have to understand the difference between learning and understanding. Now, what is learning? According to Cambridge dictionary; it is the knowledge or a piece of information obtained by study or experience. In general sense it is the ability to reproduce. When the teacher in the classroom is explaining any passage to their students, they only understand it in their mother tongue. But, are they really able to reproduce the whole thing in English?
