QUESTION TAGS
Hello friends!
Today I am going to discuss
with you one of the easiest topic of grammar that is question tags. Though it
is easy for us, it is the most confusing part for our students. As we all know
grammar is always confusing for the students. So, first tell your students what
is the real life use of question tags. Question tags are simply an affirmation
which we add at the end of the statement. It is just to know the listeners
response in yes or no. So, let us discuss it in detail.
Question Tags
Question tags are short
phrases (such as isn’t it, haven’t you, will you etc.) added to the end of a
statement to turn it into a yes/no question. Look at the following examples:

You haven’t done the homework, have you?
·
She is coming, isn’t she?
·
You are not upset, are you?
·
She likes it, doesn’t she?
Use of question tags
a.
Question tags are used in the following
situations:
i.
To ask if something is true
ii.
To ask somebody to agree with you
iii.
To request for something
b.
A negative tag is used with an
affirmative sentence.

You know the answer, don’t you?
a.
A positive tag is used with a negative
sentence.
negative sentence positive tag
She has not finished writing, has she?
a.
If the main sentence has an auxiliary
verb, the question tags take the same auxiliary
verb.

Mary can sing, can’t she?
·
She isn’t happy with the decision, is
she?
·
They have been informed of it, haven’t
they?

It's a really the easiest way to explain students ... though Question tag is an easy grammar but sometimes students got confused but in this given materials and explaining step by step is a good way to clear their confusion or daubts... Thanku sir...
