(A) Advertisements: (4m)

(i) You are going abroad. You want to sell your house, built three years ago. Draft an advertisement in not more than 50 words giving all the necessary details of the house and its locality. Contact no. xxxxxxxxxxx.

(ii) You are Ratan/Kripali. You have lost your purse in the bus. Draft an advertisement suitable to be given in the local newspaper. Your advertisement should not exceed 50 words. (CG 2020 Set A,B,C)

(iii) You are Rishabh/Devika of 202, Laxminagar, New Delhi. You have found a briefcase while travelling by the A.P. Express. Write a suitable advertisement to be published in The Indian Express under their column ‘Lost and Found’ giving the details of the briefcase. (CG 2021 Set A,B,C)

(iv) You have lost a library book issued in your name while returning home by a local bus. Write an advertisement fit for the ‘Lost and Found’ column of a local daily giving the particulars of the book.

(v) You would like to let out a portion of your independent house for office use. Write an advertisement for the classified column of a local newspaper giving all the necessary details. Write the advertisement in not more than 50 words.

(vi) You conduct home tuitions at your residence. Announcing a fresh batch, frame an advertisement for the same in about 50 words.

(B) Notice: (4m)

(i) You are Ravi/Rachna. As the President of the Cultural Forum of your school, you are going to organize an inter-school dance competition on the occasion of the Silver Jubilee Celebration of your school. Write a notice in about 50 words, informing the students of your school about this competition.(CG 2020 Set A,B,C)

(ii) You are Vivek, the Cultural Secretary of your school. You are going to organize and inter-school singing competition as a part of the annual day celebrations in your school. Write a notice for the school notice board informing the students about the event. (CG 2021 Set A,B,C)

(iii) You are Shikha/Sunil, Head Girl/Boy of DAV Public School, Bhilai. Write a notice for your school notice board, inviting volunteers for a day long blood donation camp to be organized by the Red Cross Society of India. (CG 2022 Set A,B,C)

(iv) You are the Secretary of your school. Write a notice to be put up on the notice board of your school inviting names of the students interested in joining the tour to Bhoramdev (Kabirdham). Assign yourself as Megha Sen.

(v) You are Nandita Sahni/Narayan Dubey, Head girl/boy of Swami Vivekanand Vidhyalaya, Patan, Durg. Write a notice for the school notice board calling for entries from the students for the preliminary round of the Bournvita Quiz Contest to be held in your school.

(C) Formal and Informal letters: (6m)

(i) Write a letter to the commissioner of Raipur Municipal Corporation, complaining about the poor sanitary condition and mosquito menace in your locality. You are Rajesh/Preeti. (CG 2021 Set A,B,C)

(ii) Write a letter to your friend Nitin/Niharika inviting him/her to attend your sister’s marriage ceremony. Assign yourself as Varun/Rubina.(CG 2021 Set A,B,C)

(iii) You are Amit/Amita. Write a letter to the editor of the local daily newspaper expressing your anguish over the problems faced by the people due to free sale of liquor everywhere. (CG 2020 Set A,B,C)

(iv) Write a letter to your friend Ramesh/Rupali requesting him/her to spend the summer holidays with you.

(v) You are Keshav/Karuna, living at 1, M.G. Road, Raipur. You are very much concerned about the poor quality and inadequate supply of drinking water in the town. Write a letter to the editor of a newspaper expressing your concern over the problems faced by the residents and giving suitable suggestions to solve the problems.

(vi) Write a letter to your father requesting him to send you a sum of Rs. 3000 for purchasing books and depositing school fee, etc.

(vii) Imagine yourself as the Principal of Saraswati Vidya Mandir, Dhamdha (CG). Your school is organizing inter-school 20-20 cricket tournament in the upcoming month. Write an invitation letter for the Principals of various schools for inviting their cricket teams to participate in the tournament.

(viii) You are going to throw a party to celebrate your selection in the AIPET. Draft an informal invitation for inviting your friends and relatives to enjoy the party.

(D) Long Compositions (10m)

(i) Write an article in about 250 words in any one of the following topics:

(ii) Speech writing:

(i) Yoga unites the body, mind and soul. When you are in harmony, the journey through life is calmer, happier and more fulfilling. Write a speech in about 150-200 words to be delivered in the morning assembly on the topic “Yoga : A Way of Life.” You are Karan/Kajal, Head Boy/Girl of DAV Public School, Delhi.

(ii) Prepare a speech on “Smoking : A Silent Killer”, in not more than 150-200 words for your morning assembly.

(iii) You are Rajneesh Singh, captain of your school. There is a celebration of “Van Mahotsav.” You have to prepare a speech on the topic in about 150-200 words.
